Standards and choosing signs
SANS 1186 is the South African standard for safety signs, setting out symbols, shapes and colours. The Occupational Health and Safety Act places general duties on employers to provide a safe workplace. We supply the signs, but cannot assess your site or confirm compliance; your safety officer or consultant should confirm which signs you need and where they go. Our safety signage overview explains the categories and colours.
